Obama Falsely Blames Bush for Fast and Furious

The blame game continues!  Yesterday President Obama blamed former president George Bush for the current “Fast and Furious”  government gun-running scandal during a town hall meeting hosted by Univision at  the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.  We have four dead embassy officials and a dead border patrol agent – and Obama is still blaming a video and George Bush!!!

According to the Digital Journal:

“I think it’s important for us to understand that the “Fast and Furious” program  was a field-initiated program begun under the previous administration,” the  president said. “When Eric Holder found out about it, he discontinued it. We assigned a inspector general to do a thorough report that was just issued,  confirming that in fact Eric Holder did not know about this, that he took prompt action and the people who did initiate this were held accountable,” said Mr. Obama.

The “Fast and Furious” program was  actually started in October 2009, nine months after Obama came to office,  according to an ABC  OTUS News report.

While similar but more successful  programs involving ATF agents were conducted during the Bush administration they  were completely separate operations, not part of the Obama administration’s  “field-initiated program,” as Obama told the crowd. Also, there were no  Americans killed in such a program under Bush.

After the president’s falsehood was  pointed out, White House officials did not respond to a request for comment  by media.

Regarding Obama’s embattled Attorney  General a White  House spokesman said inside investigators “concluded that although Attorney  General Holder was notified immediately of (Border Patrol) Agent (Brian) Terry’s  shooting and death, he was not told about the connection between the firearms  found at the scene of the shooting and Operation “Fast and Furious.”

We determined that Attorney General  Holder did not learn of that fact until sometime in 2011, after he received Sen.  Grassley’s January 27 letter. Senior Department officials were aware of this  significant and troubling information by December 17, 2010, but did not believe  the information was sufficiently important to alert the Attorney General about  it or to make any further inquiry regarding this development.”

Although Attorney General Eric Holder feels he has been exonerated by the recent Inspector General’s report, ABC News feels otherwise:

…this was not entirely an exoneration of the Justice Department run by Mr. Holder. “We found it troubling that a case of this magnitude, and one that affected Mexico so significantly was not directly briefed to the Attorney General,” the report stated.

In addition to specific disciplinary measures, the Inspector General “made six recommendations designed to increase the Department’s involvement in and oversight of ATF operations, improve coordination among the Department’s law enforcement components, and enhance the Department’s wiretap application review and authorization process. The OIG intends to closely monitor the department’s progress in implementing these recommendations.”

NBC (National Barack Channel) swallows pride and a lot of crow to report on Fast and Furious scandal

By  via Fox News

Big Gulps might be on the way out in New York, but not at 30 Rock, the home  of NBC News. There, the big gulp happened last night as network newsies were  forced to swallow their pride and report on the deadly “Fast and Furious” scandal as Attorney General Eric Holder testified on Capitol Hill.

This  was the first time the network had covered “Fast and Furious” though the scandal  dates back more than a year. For a whole year, stubborn, Obama-supporting  network news execs probably thought the whole embarrassing episode would  disappear. When it finally didn’t, NBC covered it as you might expect – poorly  and with spin.

Anchor Brian Williams set up the piece and the GOP at the  same time. “In Washington today, Attorney General Eric Holder took heavy fire  from Republican critics in a Senate hearing and calls for his resignation are  growing louder, but Democrats contend it’s all about politics in an election  season.” Viewers could easily note what seemed to be disdain in his voice when  Williams mentioned the idea of “resignation,” but then again, he was probably  just upset and resigned to doing the story.

Correspondent Kelly O’Donnell  then took over, repeating the Williams theme that this was all about a  Republican ax to grind. — And certainly never about an American border agent  being killed by guns that Holder did everything but Fed-Ex to Mexican drug  lords. — Williams and O’Donnell mentioned Republicans seven times and Democrats  just twice because this was a “long simmering conflict between Republicans and  Attorney General Eric Holder.”

Just in case you missed it, it’s just  politics to NBC: “Republicans leveled a series of accusations – the latest over  national security leaks – that Republicans allege could involve senior Obama  administration officials.” “Holder refused Republican demands for an outside  special counsel.” “Another controvery? Republicans claim Holder has misled and  refused to cooperate with Congress’s investigation of a failed operation that  sent US guns into Mexico codenamed ‘Fast and Furious.’”

Bitter much?  Maybe NBC is tired of being stomped by competitor CBS News worse than watching a  skateboarding competition between Tony Hawk and Williams. Even then, no matter  how bad Williams would do, at least he’d have to show up. And that’s something  NBC was incapable of managing for more than a year.

Ironically, NBC did  have a few mentions of term “fast and furious” during the past year, just none  of them actually referred to the scandal. In one, “Today” co-host Ann Curry told  viewers that reaction to a Dugar family baby announcement was “fast and  furious.”

Perhaps network execs will learn there is fallout from such  disdain for an important story by their audience. In the future, when they  ignore stories because of their agenda, maybe that reaction will be “fast and  furious,” too.

Sen. John Cornyn Calls on Holder to Resign ‎Over Fast and Furious – What Took so Long?!?

Via Newsmax

Sen. John Cornyn of Texas today joined a growing chorus of fellow Republican lawmakers calling for the resignation of U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder over his handling of probes into a federal gun investigation and leaks of classified information.

Cornyn, a Texas Republican, called for the attorney general’s resignation at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing where Holder was testifying. Cornyn follows dozens of House Republicans — 115 signing a “no-confidence” resolution — and at least three other senators in calling for Holder to quit.

“We’re all unhappy with the performance of the attorney general,” said Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Senate Republican leader, who stopped short of also calling for Holder’s departure. Cornyn “speaks for a lot” of Republicans frustrated with the Justice Department, he said.

President Barack Obama has voiced “complete confidence” in Holder, who has committed to serve through the remainder of Obama’s term in January. In an election year fraught with partisan conflicts on Capitol Hill, Obama’s attorney general has provided a ready target for Republicans.

“You’ve violated the public trust, in my view, by failing and refusing to perform the duties of your office,” Cornyn told Holder at the hearing. “It’s more sorrow than regret than anger that I would say that you leave me no alternative but to join those that call upon you to resign your office.”

Holder told lawmakers that he acted appropriately and doesn’t have “any intention of resigning.”

Holder, a target of Republicans since soon after taking office in February 2009, is facing a contempt vote in the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on June 20. The panel has demanded documents related to Fast and Furious, a law enforcement operation that allowed illegal U.S. weapons purchases to wind up at crime scenes in Mexico. Holder has said the tactics were “misguided” and wouldn’t be used again.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters today that more than 7,000 pages of documents were given to Congress and the attacks on Holder are “nothing more than politics.”

“I have complete confidence in Attorney General Holder,” Obama said on Oct. 6, praising him for “how he handles his office. He has been very aggressive in going after gun running and cash transactions that are going to international drug cartels in Mexico.”

Republicans have mounted their own election-year campaign. Representative Paul Gosar, an Arizona Republican, has the signatures of 115 House members on a “no-confidence” resolution on Holder. “It is long past time for Eric Holder to be held accountable for his failures as the attorney general,” Gosar said in a statement issued April 27.

“The Daily Caller,” an online publication, reports finding 129 House members calling for Holder’s resignation.

Cornyn circulated today a YouTube video of his committee statement on his Twitter account and later advised his Twitter followers: “Will be on Fox News in a few minutes to discuss my call for AG Holder to resign.”

“You won’t support a truly independent investigation,” Cornyn said.

Holder said he has “great faith” in two U.S. attorneys he named to lead investigations into leaks of classified information. Holder rejected Republican lawmakers’ calls for the appointment of an independent special prosecutor.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, said Republican calls to appoint a special prosecutor would slow the probe of the leaks.

“This whole episode in the last few days by my Republican friends has been a strictly partisan, insincere attempt to embarrass the president,” Reid told reporters today.

The Strange-Strange World of Eric Holder

Eric Holder’s fantasy world is most people’s dreams on steroids! His distinction between fact and fiction; truth and lies; reality and make-believe is non-existent. This man-child protege of our man-child President needs a reality check and will hopefully receive one in November!!!

The Strange-Strange World of Eric Holder | Grumpy Opinions.

I don’t have the time or the inclination, but somebody could build an entire website around Eric Holder’s apparent conflicts with reality.

It seems like almost everything he does is totally alien to the average American.  He seems to find it offensive that several states want to purge the voter rolls of people who are dead. It infuriates him that several states actually want to send illegal aliens home, instead of allowing them to infiltrate our country and live at our expense.

He does not seem overly concerned about the deaths of at least 200 Mexicans and two American Border Patrol Agents because of an illegal operation people in his department conceived and then bungled, in fact he believes trying to find out what happened is a racist attack on him personally.  While we’re on the subject of racism, he…

Congressional Democrats abandoning party line en masse to support efforts to hold administration accountable for Operation Fast and Furious.

By Matthew Boyle via The Daily Caller

Congressional Democrats are abandoning their party line en masse to support  efforts to hold the administration accountable for Operation  Fast and Furious.

In another sign of bipartisanship on Fast and Furious accountability, 142  House Democrats backed an amendment from Utah Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz  Wednesday, which prevents the Department of Justice from  using taxpayer funds to lie to Congress. Though 41 Democrats voted against it,  the bipartisan support could be a sign that frustration over the administration  stonewalling on Fast and Furious transcends party lines.

Chaffetz pitched  House Democrats in a feisty House floor speech before the vote to join him in  demanding accountability. He argued that Attorney General Eric Holder’s failure  to comply with the Fast and Furious congressional subpoena is anything but a  partisan political fight. He said it’s an issue of separation of powers between  the legislative and executive branches, and that all Americans “should be  embarrassed by what’s happening in Fast and Furious.”

“If we get stonewalling on the other side of the aisle, without your support,  we will do a disservice to this country, we will do a disservice to this body  and we will not get to the truth,” Chaffetz said on the House floor on  Wednesday. “I promise you, when that becomes a Republican president, I will  stand with you and demand the openness and transparency that this body deserves.  I’ve done it; I’ve challenged my own party, I have the guts, I have the  fortitude to do the right thing.”

Chaffetz challenged the House Democrats to come forward and help him, House  Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa and others: “This is the test of  principle, this is the test of integrity, and when you can’t stand up and take  on your own party, that’s a lack of guts,” Chaffetz said. “This Congress has got  to stand up for itself and demand that these documents be released.”

In the end, when the House voted, Chaffetz got his bipartisan support.

That support comes on the heels of Indiana Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly’s outspoken  public support for Issa’s move to enforce the subpoena Holder has thus far  failed to comply with.

Issa served Holder a subpoena on Oct. 12, 2011. Holder has thus far failed to  comply with all 22 categories of the subpoena that requires him to provide  Congress with documents relating to Fast and Furious. With 13 of the categories,  Holder has  provided no documents. When it comes to the other nine subpoena categories,  Holder is still far  from compliant, as TheDC reported late last week.

Other Democrats have  refused to  defend Holder amid the scandal, and even more  have criticized how their own party’s administration has handled it.

Obama Bogged Down by Scandals

By Phyllis Schlafly via Eagle Forum

Increasing public disapproval of Barack Obama is based not only on his extravagant spending that hangs debt like an albatross around the necks of our children and grandchildren.  He is presiding over the most scandal-ridden administration in decades, from Colombia to Las Vegas, to the Mexican border, to Solyndra, and more.

The Secret Service’s prostitution party in Colombia is an international embarrassment.  It’s not sufficient punishment that a few guilty men have been allowed to resign or retire with benefits because many questions are still crying to be answered.

Who arranged the party at the now-notorious Pley Club Cartagena, which apparently supplied enough girls for eleven Secret Service and ten U.S. military men staying in separate rooms at the historic Hotel Caribe, where prostitution is openly tolerated?

Is there any connection between this moral scandal and our recent trade agreement with Colombia?  Were there any similar parties to con the United States into going along with this free-trade deal favorable to Colombia?

Another embarrassing scandal is the General Services Administration’s $823,000 junket to Las Vegas.  Obama Administration bureaucrats apparently think parties are perks that go along with their jobs.

Living high on the hog, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has been charging the Pentagon $32,000 per flight to jet to California every few weeks.  And don’t forget the half-billion-dollar gift to Solyndra before it took bankruptcy and left U.S. taxpayers on the hook.

“Fast and Furious” turned out to be a bloody scandal after the U.S. Justice Department okayed the sale of guns to Mexican drug cartels, under the ridiculous excuse that this would give us the opportunity to get more information about the drug dealers.  Somebody should be held accountable for the fact that one of these U.S. guns was used to murder U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.

Operation Fast and Furious allowed over 2,000 weapons to be smuggled to the violent Mexican drug cartels.  A new book by investigative journalist Katie Pavlich, called “Fast and Furious: Barack Obama’s Bloodiest Scandal and Its Shameless Cover-up,” asserts that a third gun was involved whose existence was covered up by the FBI and the Justice Department.

Another scandal is that the Obama Administration is suing several states.  We need more aggressive Tenth Amendment advocates to publicize and overturn these travesties.

Obama is suing Arizona to try to knock out its law to protect its citizens against illegal aliens, a law that polls show Americans support by two-to-one.  The U.S. Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments this week.

The Arizona law allows local law enforcement to question the legal status of anyone who is stopped on suspicion of a crime, and then detain anyone who cannot prove legal U.S. residency.  Illegal immigration is already a federal crime, and the Arizona law is an attempt to do some enforcement that the feds are failing to do.

The Obama Administration wants the courts to prevent the states from enforcing laws that Obama refuses to enforce.  Similar lawsuits have been filed against Alabama, Georgia, and Utah.

In the Supreme Court case against Arizona, nine states have filed amicusbriefs supporting Arizona, including Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma and South Carolina.  They say they “have a manifest interest in ensuring that their sovereignty is accorded proper respect,” and that each state should be able to decide for itself how to protect its citizens from the crime and costs associated with illegal aliens.

Amicusbriefs from foreign governments opposing the Alabama and Georgia laws were filed by Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El  Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Peru.  We need federal and state laws to prevent our courts from considering foreign laws, treaties, court decisions, or briefs in interpreting U.S. laws.

It looks like voter fraud is one of the ways that Barack Obama plans to be reelected in November.  He has had his Justice Department block Texas and South Carolina laws that require showing a photo ID in order to vote, even though polls report that 70 percent of Americans support voter ID.

In defending Texas’s law, Governor Rick Perry said it “requires nothing more extensive than the type of photo identification necessary to receive a library card or board an airplane.”  At least eight states have passed similar laws, and even the liberal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Arizona’s 2004 ballot initiative requiring voters to show photo ID in order to vote.

The Constitution makes it a major duty of the President to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.”  Despite the fact the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is the law of the land, passed with overwhelming bipartisan support, Obama is instead ordering his Justice Department not to defend this law in court.

Three Reasons You Shouldn’t Vote For Obama

By via Western Journalism

1.   This administration’s sense of entitlement:

Obama has played over 100 rounds of golf since becoming president.  He has taken or sent his family on more vacations than we can count.  He has no concern about the fact that he does this on the taxpayer’s tab.

The General Services Administration threw a $823,000 party in Las Vegas. It is as if the ‘gods of the marketplace’ believe they deserve these extravagant parties, as if they are perks that go along with the job.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta charges the American tax payer $32,000 weekly as he jets to California for the weekend.

This administration approved a ½ billion dollar gift to Solyndra before it went bankrupt.  When Solyndra went bankrupt the cost was passed on to the American taxpayer.

2.  This administration’s belief that they are above the law:

The U.S. Justice Department approved the sale of guns to the Mexican drug cartels knowing these guns would be used against innocent people.  Obama has no conscience regarding the sanctity of life.  He once said he would rather murder the unborn child of his daughter than punish her with a baby.

The president, who promised to unify us and bring us together,  is suing the state of Arizona opposing the laws the residents of that great state approved that were designed to protect its innocent citizens from illegal immigrants who might have criminal intent.

Illegal immigration is a federal crime.  This president sends a message that some crime is acceptable and he gets to decide which ones!

Obama is attempting to strong-arm the Supreme Court to support a most unconstitutional measure in Obamacare that would force Americans to purchase something against their will.

3.  This administration’s aura of dishonesty

If the president has nothing to hide, why spend $2 million to cover up his past.  Where are the papers he wrote in college?  Where are his grades from Harvard?  Where are all the classmates or girlfriends who should be lining up for their 15 minutes of fame because they took a class with Obama?

Obama said he was the one to unify us but when have we been more polarized.  He is quick to stir up racial tension when given an opportunity.  He promotes class welfare.  I know, the press wants us to think he has an I.Q. of over 200.  Does it not seem he was lacking in judgment and wisdom when he made a judgment about his professor friend at Harvard before the facts were in and had to hold a beer summit to fix his blunder.  I don’t really see the resemblance of the president with Trayvon Martin.  Obama again became involved in an issue before the facts were in.

Why so much controversy about his birth certificate?  If there wasn’t something to hide, would this president not have cleared that up long ago?  I don’t want proof that Barack Obama, Sr. is his father. I want proof that Frank Marshall Davis was NOT his real father.

I’m tired of being told what to believe when the opposite is usually true.  Michelle Obama recently attempted to reinforce the messianic traits of her husband.  She boldly declared that he has “brought us out of the darkness and into the light.”  Uh, no, Michelle, that would be Jesus, not Barack!

Memo to Michelle:  He ain’t the Messiah and this ain’t the light!
